Role Description

Woodruff & Smart boasts one of the largest eminent domain practice groups in the state. Collectively, its attorneys have been responsible for hundreds, if not thousands, of property acquisitions to facilitate significant public works projects throughout Southern California. Our eminent domain group has quadrupled in size over the past decade in response to the property acquisition needs of our clients. We are actively recruiting for qualified individuals to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate(s) will have some real estate litigation experience (condemnation litigation experience a plus but not essential) in such areas as easement enforcement, quiet title, real property/business valuation, and lease disputes. Job responsibilities will include, without limitation, preparing resolutions of necessity and supporting documents, appearing before governing boards in both open and closed session meetings, drafting initial pleadings, and arguing motions for possession, preparing written discovery, taking and defending expert witness depositions, and participating in mediations and trials.

The firm is looking for an entry level and a mid-level (4-7 years) associate.

 

Qualifications

  • Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in California
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Case management experience and ability to multitask
