Practice Description
Tina Sapounakis is a litigation associate in Woodruff & Smart’s eminent domain practice group, and has over a decade of experience representing public entities and agencies in both state and federal court. Ms. Sapounakis presently represents public agencies in eminent domain matters concerning the planning and acquisition phases of major infrastructure improvements for railroad, roadway, freeway, bridge, and underground utility projects. She participates in all phases of the acquisition process, from providing advice to agency staff during the planning phase of a project, to the commencement of eminent domain litigation proceedings and through trial.
Prior to starting at Woodruff & Smart, Ms. Sapounakis specialized in the defense of California public entities in a wide variety of civil and complex civil proceedings, with an emphasis on labor and employment litigation, police liability, and civil rights claims. She has prepared several successful dispositive appellate briefs for cases before the California Court of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit, and has argued before the Fourth Appellate District, Division Three of the California Court of Appeal. Ms. Sapounakis has also presented at various seminars pertaining to key legislation updates in the employment law arena.
Professional Activities
Ms. Sapounakis serves on the Board of Directors for Casa de Amma and is an advocate for the special needs community.
